Research that Benefits Children and Families—Uplifting Stories

As a Headstart teacher for many years working with low-income families who their children are in need to attend the program to enhance the developmental areas. Head Start is the main open gate to many doors that lead to successful, hands-on experiences and mastering skills for children and families. 

 
     

 A Year in Head Start: Children, Families and Programs

Head Start is a national program that aims to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through the provision of educational, health, nutritional, social, and other services to enrolled children and families. The Head Start program provides grants to local public and private nonprofit and for-profit agencies to provide comprehensive child development services to economically disadvantaged children and families; the Office of Head Start emphasizes a special focus on helping preschoolers develop the reading and mathematics skills they need to be successful in school. The program also seeks to engage parents in their children’s learning and to promote their progress toward their own educational, literacy, and employment goals (Administration for Children and Families [ACF] 2009).



This research shows how important it is for children to attend head start program to have the most benefits that will have a positive impact on children and their families. Also, this shows how a one year experience in Head Start is satisfiable for children and their families’ involvement in the program as well.

    Early Head Start {EHS} and Head Start {HS} programs have been instrumental in strengthening and empowering families for years. Research revealed that children who attended EHS "performed significantly better on a range of cognitive, language, and social and emotional development measures than a randomly assigned control group." ("Early Head Start Benefits Children and Families | ECLKC", 2018) Participating in such quality program is rewarding and beneficial to children, families and the community.

Global Fund for Children “ We support education from children’s earliest years to secondary school and on through university or vocational training.”    ( The Global Fund for children) The website has the same agendas in the field of education for the youth. Through working together to help end the lack of education, the fund focuses on beating poverty and similar issues through education. It sees education as a means of success, as we do here as well within the course. In order to be successful and be better off than their families, the children are provided with tools for education.
