When I Think of Research...

How Children’s Well-being Hindered by Poverty?

Together we can make a difference in a child’s life

Is children’s well-being negatively affected by poverty during the ages of 3-5, with an emphasis on cognitive development with regard to the preschool skills checklist?
Children are effective by poverty in many developmental areas that will be affected by their well-being as well. Children at an early age need to develop and grow healthy in the four developmental domains such as cognitive, social, emotional, and physical. Children who live in low-income families are struggling in their health which will affect their ability of learning and it will hinder from their education. Poverty hindered children from well-being by the lack of access to education and poor health; these cause challenges to children to maintain a healthy start to life and education. Poverty and health are strongly linked. When children suffer from disease because of lack of health insurance, treatment, and health facilities this will deny children from having a healthy start. Improving children’s health is the key to well-being. On the other hand, children get affected by their families’ economic status and employment. By doing this research will help to come with some solutions and finding academic ways to help these children to meet the learning and academic level as other peers in the classroom.

This study will benefit children first by helping them to meet their needs and achieve their goals. Also, the study will show how these children get struggles from poverty and how their well-being gets hindered by poverty. On the other hand, any issues that affect children have to take into consideration that it affects the early childhood field as well. The result of this study will help these children to catch up with other children by engaging them in more learning activities that can raise their level of understanding and communication. Furthermore, as an early childhood educator and professional, I can help these families to find ways to raise their incomes and provide them with sources to help them to reduce poverty effects and find ways to reach family goals which will reflect on all communities as well.

This course is special due to many benefits and academic standards that help and shape my thinking of how to find a beneficial topic in the early childhood field gets benefits from it. By learning and practicing the purposes of research that add to my knowledge on how to be aware of many details about the topic I choose and how this topic will benefit the early childhood field.

Thank you to my colleagues with all their support by sharing their thoughts and knowledge by supporting my learning purposes and their positive feedback which make a difference to my practice of learning.

So many populations are impacted by poverty and it is important for not only early childhood professionals to understand that but community and nation leaders.
