Exploring
Roles in the ECE Community: Local and State Levels
Looking
for communities of practice is a good start that helps me to know more about
all the different services that are available for children and families. These
agencies are providing many different services that parents and advocators need
to move forward to achieve their vision and goals in their particular
cases.
The first agency that I will discuss is Children’s Residential Intensive services.
The Children’s Residential Intensive services (chRIS) is a full services
partnership program implemented by DBH in close collaboration with child and
family services (CFS). This agency is a mental health clinic that provides
children with different services based on their needs. Also, it is providing the
service to the parents because its homes function with two independent
contracts. So these agencies provide a multi-faceted treatment approach. More,
it is the implementation of a full-service partnership. So this agency stood up
for me to speak up for these children by involving parents to attend workshops
throughout this agency to show them how their children need their support by
listing to them and agree to involve and attend these services.
The
another agency is Children’s Mental Health and Emotional or Behavioral Disorders
Project Inspiring Opportunities, so this agency has a particular service and
support for a child with mental health and behavioral disorders to succeed in
the school environments, including the general education classroom. This agency
will help guide parents and teachers and individual education teachers to adapt
to school expectations. So this agency stood out for me because they work with
mental health disorders as a health issue without discrimination based on age,
race, gender, ethnicity, religion, economic class, or ethnic background. Also,
this PACER publication provides strategies to communicate more effectively with
school staff and parents about their child challenging behaviors. On the other
hand, it provides parents and educators by include questions to help parents to
understand their child and their behavior issues.
The third agency is Loma Linda University Behavioral Health. This agency is a
cadmic school that has a lab to study how these issues are affecting children's
education in the future. This agency is working with children from an early age
in many different areas to strengthen children and strength in innovative
therapies to not suffer in silence. More, Loma Linda University Behavioral
Health center leads the region in mental health treatment, and their different
programs and resources centers will help me to get all the information I need.
Also, they have different workshops that parents can attend to understand their
children's needs by addressing all the side effects of health issues.
I applied
for a new position at Head start as a teacher three that couching teachers,
preparing and organizing different workshops for parents and their families.
This position is an excellent start to interact with parents to focus on my
challenge issue and focus through it on my social change issue. By
Communicating with parents by focusing on their children's struggles and show
them where they have to fight for their children's rights instead of denying
these issues without recounting how it will affect their children's education
and development.
